Frequently asked questions
Products & authenticity
Yes. Authenticity sits at the foundation of our selection. Every shirt is individually assessed before becoming part of AS Contra, with attention to the details that define the piece, from labels and construction to prints, namesets and patches.
Yes. Unless clearly stated otherwise, the shirt shown in the product photography is the exact individual shirt you are purchasing. Most pieces in our selection are one of one.
Every shirt is individually inspected and given an AS Contra condition grade:
New, near mint, excellent, very good, good or acceptable.
Relevant signs of wear, ageing or imperfections are shown and/or described on the product page. As these are vintage pieces, minor characteristics associated with age and previous wear can naturally be present.
We recommend using the measurements provided on the individual product page rather than relying solely on the labelled size. Measurements are taken manually and may vary by approximately 1 cm.
Pit to pit:
Measured flat from armpit to armpit.
Length:
Measured from the highest point of the shoulder, excluding the collar, to the bottom hem. If the back is longer than the front, both measurements are provided.
Sleeve length:
Measured from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve. If there is no shoulder seam, measured from the top of the shoulder directly above the armpit.
Yes, but we will tell you when they do. Where a reproduction nameset, patch or other reproduction element is present, this will be disclosed on the product listing where relevant.
An original nameset refers to an original period nameset. It may have been applied to the shirt at a later date.
Where we have sufficient information about when or how a nameset was applied, we will make that distinction clear.
Player Issue / Player Specification refers to a shirt produced to player specifications rather than standard retail specifications.
Match Issued refers to a shirt prepared or issued for a player or match, without necessarily having been worn.
Match Worn refers to a shirt believed to have been worn by the stated player in a match, based on the information available to us.
The history of vintage shirts is not always fully documented. Where available, we include relevant provenance and supporting information with the individual shirt.
Contact us at support@ascontra.com with your order number and the information supporting your concern. We will investigate it and may ask for the shirt to be returned for inspection. Independent expertise may form part of that assessment where appropriate.
Our pieces are generally sold on a first-come, first-served basis. A shirt is not reserved until an order has been successfully completed, unless we have explicitly agreed otherwise.
If your order has not yet been shipped, contact us as soon as possible at support@ascontra.com. We will do our best to cancel it before dispatch. Once an order has been shipped, the applicable return process must be followed.
Available payment methods are shown at checkout and may vary depending on your country or device.
For pre-owned items sold under the EU margin scheme, VAT is not added separately at checkout. The displayed price is the price you pay to AS Contra, excluding any shipping costs. For orders delivered outside the EU, local import VAT, customs duties and clearance fees may apply upon arrival. These charges are not included in your order total and are the responsibility of the recipient.
Once your order is confirmed, the shirt is taken from our selection and prepared for dispatch. Before shipping, we carry out a final inspection and carefully pack the piece for its journey to you.
Contact us as soon as possible at support@ascontra.com. If your order has not yet been dispatched, we will do our best to update the address. Once the shipment has been handed over to the carrier, changes may no longer be possible.

Our packaging is designed to live beyond the delivery. Whether it stays with the shirt or takes on a different purpose, it was made to be kept rather than discarded.

Yes. You may carefully try on the shirt to check the fit, just as you would in a physical store. However, the shirt must not be worn beyond what is necessary to assess the fit if you intend to return it.
All returned shirts are inspected upon arrival. We may check for signs of wear or use, including odours, stains, damage, washing, alterations and changes to prints, namesets, patches or other details. If the shirt has been handled or used beyond what is reasonably necessary to assess it, this may affect the amount refunded where permitted by law.
We recommend using the original AS Contra packaging for your return where reasonably possible. The shirt must be packed securely and protected during return transport. Returning the original presentation packaging is not a condition of exercising your statutory right of withdrawal.
Once your return has been received, we will inspect the shirt and process the refund in accordance with our Returns & Refunds Policy. The refund will be made using the original payment method where possible.
CARE & SUPPORT
Vintage football shirts require more care than ordinary modern clothing. Always check the garment-specific care information and our Care Guide before washing or treating your shirt. Prints, namesets, patches and older fabrics can be particularly sensitive.
Avoid applying direct heat to namesets, sponsors, patches or other printed details. If ironing is appropriate for the garment, follow the Care Guide and garment label carefully and protect sensitive areas from direct heat.
Yes. Every shirt is carefully inspected and prepared before becoming part of our selection. Where appropriate, shirts are cleaned and steamed before sale. Certain unworn, tagged or particularly delicate pieces may be left untreated to preserve their original condition.
Contact support@ascontra.com and include your order number, a clear description of the issue and photographs where relevant. This helps us assess and resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
